The Gush Newsletter 3 – Happy Happy from the MCCP (a.k.a. The Clown Farm)

Well well, what an incredible year.

At this time last year all that has happened would have been unimaginable. But here we are not at the end, but at the beginning… again. Either the Mayans were wrong, or they were misinterpreted, or we're starting yet another 5,126 odd year cycle.

Thanks largely to the wonderful folks at Norton Rose who are taking care of us with the legal end of things, we received charitable status on January 29! That was about two years faster than expected. The quickness of our charitable status is somewhat balanced out by the delays in constructing the new studio: it fell five weeks behind, then two months, then three and, finally by October we were where we had hoped to be by June 1st. The walls are up, the roof is on, and the windows and doors all work, thanks, in part, to the hard work and dedication of the local construction crews. We're all ready to go for next summer. Well… we still have to build a front porch in May but there's a temporary back porch for now. But all is fantastic and the new studio is gorgeous (see below).

Even though we had to make some crazy adjustments to the class schedule and compress the summer, we had an outstanding experience: wonderful students and some transcendent work done by the artists in residence. Thanks to everyone who volunteered with set-up and tear-down, 2013 was perhaps the most efficient and productive year yet. So kudos to one and all.

And kudos to all involved in our first ever fundraising campaign: the organizers, editors, contributors and all those passing the word around. Thank you so much. As of today we're at 74% of our goal and we have until the end of January to reach it. Here's the link for anyone wishing to make a donation or wanting to help spread the word:

Finally, we are already revving up for next summer. If you are interested in taking classes, or know some one who is, all the classes and schedule are on the website now. It's never too early to get to it. Applications are already pouring in.

Have a delightful and safe New Year all year.

With love and magic from all of us at The Manitoulin Conservatory for Creation and Performance. December 31, 2013.
